Budgeting for poverty and inequality reduction
How does the Gauteng Provincial Government's budget allocations and expenditures impact poverty and inequality in the region? This is the primary question that we engage with in this project.
Initially, we do this by creating interactive visualisations that make budget data accessible and informative. The publication of these visualisations broadens participation in the debate on the Gauteng budget. The interactive products also help to identify policy-relevant research questions about the strategic choices facing Gauteng City-Region, and how public spending contributes to reducing poverty and inequality.
