Advancing geospatial research and data science
This project is intended to get the GIS team to set aside a three-week period (cumulative) to extensively focus on a new, open access and novel GIS/Remote Sensing/Urban data science dataset to produce high-quality GCRO products (e.g. Journal articles, visualisations, vignettes etc.) at the end of the period.
The purpose of the project is threefold: 1) focus on the 'low-hanging fruits' and produce quality research over the short time period; 2) explore new data visualisation and advanced modelling techniques (simulations, forecasting, etc.); 3) a space for upskilling, training opportunities and sharing of scientific outputs to build local and international partnerships and organisational profiles. This last point would include sharing code amongst colleagues and collaborators, sharing analytical methodologies, arranging symposiums for the sharing of research and creating an urban data science skills wish list for pursuit during international study tours.
