Quality of Life Survey 7 (2023/24) Launched
The Quality of Life results launch took place on October 22, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Gautrain Sandton Hotel. 200 participants attended the hybrid event and began with opening remarks from Professor Lynn Morris, Wits Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, as well as the Chairperson of the GCRO Board. Following the opening remarks, GCRO Executive Director Mr. Rashid Seedat and Director of Research Strategy Mr. Graeme Gotz presented the Quality of Life results. The event also featured a facilitated panel discussion with notable participants, including the Honourable Premier of Gauteng, Mr. Panayaza Lesufi; Nosipho Hlatshwayo, CEO of the South African Cities Network; and Professor Edgar Pieterse, Founding Director of the African Centre for Cities (ACC).
GCRO's Quality of Life Survey is one of the largest social attitudes surveys undertaken in South Africa. It has been run every two to three years since 2009, generating rich data that has informed government policy and decision-making, public awareness of life in Gauteng, and numerous academic publications.
