GCRO Executive Director Rashid Seedat Joins Global Dialogue at UN‑Habitat Workshop

On January 21st and 22nd, 2023, GCRO Executive Director Rashid Seedat participated as a speaker at a significant UN-Habitat workshop dedicated to Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11), which focuses on Sustainable Cities and Communities. The workshop was held at the UN Africa Headquarters in Nairobi, attracting a diverse audience.

During his presentation, Seedat highlighted critical data gaps that hinder the progress toward achieving SDG 11. He articulated the vital role urban observatories play in enhancing evidence-based urban planning and monitoring, advocating for better data collection and analysis to inform sustainable urban development strategies.

The workshop brought together various stakeholders, including representatives from United Nations agencies, multilateral organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academic institutions, and civil society groups. Among the distinguished attendees was Anacláudia Rossbach, the Executive Director of UN-Habitat, who played an instrumental role in facilitating discussions.
