GCRO’s Gauteng as a Village of 100 people wins NIHSS award
The National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS) hosts the annual Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Book, Creative and Digital Collections Awards to celebrate and honour outstanding, innovative, and socially responsible scholarship that enhances and advances the Humanities and Social Sciences. This prestigious event took place on 27 March 2025 at the Maropeng Visitor centre in the Cradle of Humankind.
GCRO’s submission, Gauteng as a village of 100 people, is a joint winner in the Best DH Visualisation or Infographic sub-category. Christian Hamann, Christina Culwick-Fatti and Riaan Pietersen accepted the award on behalf of the broader team that included Samkelisiwe Khanyile, Gillian Maree, Guy Trangoš, Mncedisi Siteleki, Phemelo Mahamuza, Richard Ballard and Samiksha Singh.
