GCRO Team Gets A Boost

Welcome to Our New Team Members!

We are thrilled to announce the addition of several talented individuals to our team. Please join us in welcoming:

• Dr. Samiksha Singh, our new Researcher, comes to us with extensive experience in Environmental Science and Public Policy. We are excited to see the innovative ideas and energy Samiksha will bring to our projects.
• Ms. Shannon Arnold will join us as a Junior Researcher. With a background in Political Science and International Relations, Shannon brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our team.
• Ms. Nosibabalwe Socikwa, who is joining as a Junior Researcher, has a strong background in Industrial Sociology and Development Studies. We look forward to the fresh perspectives and expertise Nosibabalwe will contribute.
• Mr. Jason F. Bell is joining us as a Researcher. With his strong background in Economics and Industrial Development, Jason is poised to offer valuable insights and innovative ideas. We eagerly anticipate the impactful contributions he will make to our team.

Congratulations on Your Promotion!

Dr. Samkelisiwe Khanyile has been promoted from Researcher to Senior Researcher. With a proven track record in sustainability-related issues, data analytics, and visualisations, Dr. Khanyile has demonstrated remarkable dedication and leadership. Her innovative use of GIS and Remote Sensing to inform sustainable and equitable urban development has greatly enhanced our nationally and internationally funded projects within the broader sustainability theme, impacting our team's success. We are excited to see Dr. Khanyile continue to inspire and lead us to new heights.

We are also excited to announce the promotion of Ms. Shamsunisaa Miles-Timotheus from Research Intern to Junior Researcher. As an intern for the Quality of Life 7 Survey, Shamsunisaa demonstrated exceptional skill in navigating the complexities of survey coordination and consistently exceeded expectations. In her new position, she will take on a key role in advancing our Understanding Quality of Life theme, contributing to the rollout of future Quality of Life surveys, and conducting in-depth research into various aspects of Quality of Life. We are confident that Shamsunisaa’s expertise and dedication will drive continued success in this critical area.

We also congratulate the promotion of Ms. Nadine Abrahams from Office Administrator to Finance Administrator, effective 1 August 2024. Ms. Abrahams has been a dedicated member of the GCRO team for the past seven years, joining us in June 2017. She has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment throughout her tenure and has been a tremendous asset to our organization. Her invaluable contributions and willingness to go above and beyond her assigned duties have made her an ideal candidate for this new role. We are confident that Ms. Abrahams will excel as the GCRO’s Finance Administrator, where she will support the Finance Manager in all financial aspects.
