Organized by the National Earth Observations and Space Secretariat (NEOSS) and the South African National Space Agency (SANSA), both initiatives of the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), the event was held in partnership with key national collaborators, including the South African Air Force (SAAF) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Each of the three days featured presentations, plenary discussions, and technical and showcase sessions on the sub-themes of space and social sustainability, space and economic sustainability, and space and the future.

Dr. Laven Naidoo delivered a presentation titled "Estimating teal carbon stocks across Gauteng using a multi-sensor remote sensing approach," which provided crucial insights for the GCRO’s Carbon Atlas Project https://www.gcro.ac.za/research/project/detail/carbon-atlas-gauteng-city-region/

Dr. Naidoo aims to enhance the accuracy of the estimated teal carbon map by integrating airborne radar and drone datasets and implementing specific radiative transfer models.
